Beer and a Shot. Acrylic paint on paper.

I painted this on paper that had 3 coats of gesso.  I find it to be the best way to paint without involving a canvas.  I will scan this on my computer and offer it as a print.  Cheers everyone.  Email me if you are interested in a print.  Thanks.

Blue Coffee Acrylic Painting

My Thanksgiving Day painting.  I used aquamarine and titanium white on a sheet of sketchbook paper.  I put 4 coats of gesso on before painting.  The gesso helps when painting on paper. I wanted to do a value study using blue.  The sugar cubes were a last minute addition.

Self Portrait. Oil on Canson Paper

My finished self portrait. I used oil paint on Canson paper.  The paper is designed for oil paints.  I think this is my best portrait so far.  I will continue practicing.  I am not vain in painting myself, I just don't have a model that will pose for me.  LOL.  The following images are my underpaintings.

I used burnt umber as a base.

Introduced paynes grey for the darker areas.

I started putting in the background to judge my values better.

Path Through a Field Oil Painting

My latest oil painting 9in x 12in Canvas.  Finished this one early this morning.  I used rather thick paint on the sky. Not the usual style I use.  I thought I would try something different.  This is one of the paintings I will sell at the 2024 Arlington Heights Art show in August. I recently became a member of the Arlington Heights Art Guild. I am getting my next surface ready for painting.  I am going to use Canson oil paper.  I think I will try another self portrait.

Sunset Ocean Oil Painting

It took me 3 days to paint this.  Many days in between for drying.  I let the paint dry before adding another layer.  Most of my paintings are Ala Prima. This is the first painting that took me several days to finish.  I will probably use this method for a while.  Currently I am looking for another subject for my next project.  Not sure if I will do oils or Acrylics.  My sketchbook is calling me.  Thanks for stopping by.

Des Plains River Oil Painting

This painting was inspired by a visit to the Des Plains River Nature Center.  I took a few pics of the river and painted this.  Waiting for it to dry.  I might sell this one next year at the Arlington Heights Art Fest.

Puma Sketch

What do you expect after I watched "The Island of Dr Moreau".  I watched a two versions. I liked the 70's version better.
